Founder of Nevadaprep.com suffers massive heart attack

Officer looking for Chuck Hildebrand's next of kin

Chuck Hildebrand, the founder and former owner of nevadaprep.com, has

reportedly suffered a massive heart attack in Milwaukee and is near death,

according to a police officer in San Jose, Calif.

Officer Matt Christian telephoned the Lahontan Valley News on Monday

afternoon, seeking information on Hildebrand's next of kin. Christian had

been contacted by a Milwaukee police officer who was calling phone numbers

listed in Hildebrand's cell phone. The Milwaukee officer reportedly said

that Hildebrand had been in Milwaukee to watch the San Francisco Giants play

the Milwaukee Brewers and suffered the heart attack on Monday morning. The

Milwaukee officer said Hildebrand was in critical condition.

Hildebrand founded Nevada Prep as a newspaper focusing on high school

sports in Northern Nevada in 1998. In 1999 he ceased the printed version and

created nevadaprep.com, which he operated until selling the Web site in

2007. In the eight years that he ran nevadaprep.com, Hildebrand concentrated

his coverage on high school sports in rural Nevada and often wrote columns

criticizing the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association for it's

alignment policies and on other issues.

After selling the Web site, Hildebrand returned to his boyhood home town of

Campbell, Calif., and focused on his writing career. He has authored three

books.

The Milwaukee police department is unable to release any further information

at this time. Anyone with information on Hildebrand's next of kin is asked

to call San Jose police officer Matt Christian at (831) 245-5814.
