XTERRA Lake Tahoe

The inaugural XTERRA Lake Tahoe will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 in Incline Village. The gun goes off at 8 a.m. at the Hyatt Beach as triathletes dive into Lake Tahoe for a 1,500-meter swim, followed by a 22-mile mountain bike ride on the Flume and Tahoe Rim trails and a twisty 10K trail run.

The event also features a shorter triathlon (750-meter swim, 22-mile bike, 5K run) and 5 and 10K trail runs. The longer course is the same as the former XTERRA USA Championships for the past eight years. The short course is the same as the former XTERRA Nevada. Before the triathlon, don’t miss a free off-road triathlon clinic taught by the pros at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Village Green. The clinic is open to the public. For more information go to
