Nov. 3 election: Polling places, vote-by-mail ballot information

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Judging by the volume of calls to the county elections office, registrar William Schultz said there's confusion surrounding Tuesday's election.

With voter turnout expected to be around 25 percent, polling places were consolidated and about 10,000 voters received vote-by-mail ballots with instructions. Schultz said the move saved the county about $15,000.

Some voters were unsure what to do with the ballots, mistaking them for sample ballots to use as a reference. But they should be filled out and received by the elections office in South Lake Tahoe or Placerville by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Alternately, they can be hand delivered to four local polling places.

If a voter misplaced a vote-by-mail ballot, they may walk in to any polling place and cast a provisional ballot, Schultz said.

For questions, call the elections office at (530) 621-7480.
