SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Although South Lake Tahoe Police Department and El Dorado County Animal Services officers were outside Broc's Puppies this afternoon, the incident had nothing to do with the pet store.
Instead, officers responded to a call of another dog biting a man in front of Grocery Outlet, less than a half a mile north of Broc's.
The dog was tied up in front of Grocery Outlet when it bit a man at about 12:30 p.m., said Lt. Robert Gerat with El Dorado County Animal Services. The bitten man and the man with the dog ended up near the Edgin Coin-Op Car Wash and Broc's Puppies where they had an altercation, Gerat said.
“Nothing had anything to do with Broc's, it's just where everything culminated,” Gerat said.
Police and Animal Services officers arrived at the scene. After Animal Services verified that the dog had a current rabies vaccine, it was released to its owner. The dog will spend 10 days of quarantine inside its owners home.
The bite victim did not have any major injuries, Gerat said.
