Planning Commissioner issued filing papers

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — On Wednesday, South Lake Tahoe City Clerk Susan Alessi issued filing papers to Planning Commissioner Joy Curry to run in the upcoming city council race.

Curry, 63, said that she isn't sure whether she will actually make a run at one of the three council seats to be decided by voters in November.

A seven year resident of South Lake Tahoe, Curry has served on the planning commission for the past four years and represented the city during the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's Pathway 2007 process to gather input on the agency's regional plan update.

The city is at a crossroads and there is no better time to run for the city council, Curry said Thursday. A Southern California native, Curry said she is very passionate about South Lake Tahoe and the issues facing the city.

Curry said she has not developed a platform, but will focus on doing what she feels is right for the city.

The planning commissioner said she still needs to talk with her family before deciding whether to run.
