Collisions. Feats of athleticism on roller skates. Adrenaline. Girls hitting girls. Heavy mascara. These are just a few of the things you'll find at the upcoming Tahoe Derby Dames roller derby bout, when Lake Tahoe's only flat-track derby team plays against Chico's NorCal Roller Girls on Saturday at Bijou Park.
With the theme “Where the Wild Things Roll”, the third home bout for the Dames will again blend full-contact athletic roller derby action with philanthropy. A portion of the bout proceeds will go to support the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, an organization dedicated to helping orphaned and injured wildlife.
In addition, the bout will feature a beer garden, halftime show and a raffle, along with ample opportunity to cheer on your favorite derby girls.
Bout tickets are $10, and kids under 10 are admitted free. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the roller derby action commence at 6 p.m.
