Sports briefs | Incline Parks and Rec to offer summer softball leagues

The Incline Village Parks and Recreation Department is offering a couple of competitive summer softball leagues. A men’s league for ages 18 and over will be offered Tuesdays between 6-10 p.m. from June 7 through late August. Open registration is available through May 27 for $625 a team. Late registration is from May 28-June 1 and is $675. There will also be three coed softball leagues, which play from the week of June 6 through late August. Registration follows the same guidelines as the men’s league.

The North Tahoe Rams are holding early Pop Warner sign-ups on Friday, May 27 at the Boys and Girls Club in Kings Beach from 4-6 p.m. Early sign-up costs are $130, as opposed to later sign-ups at $160. Anyone ages 10 to 14 is welcome.

The TGFS Optimist All Stars is holding tryouts for the 16U tournament fast-pitch girls’ softball team. They are looking for highly competitive players from Truckee, Incline Village, North Tahoe, Reno and surrounding areas. The team will compete in the Northern Nevada and Northern California Regions. Tryouts are May 29 and June 5, from 3-5 p.m., at Truckee River Regional Park. The season is from May 29-Aug. 30. Cost is $300 plus fundraising and volunteer opportunities.
