SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — A 50-year-old South Shore man al legedly crashed into a fence and a neighbor's car after taking an El Dorado County Sher iff's patrol vehicle for a drunken joyride Sunday.
About 3 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a loud party on Arrowhead Drive.
When a deputy left a vehicle unattended to check on the party, South Shore resident William Neff allegedly entered the vehicle and began driving, said Lt. Les Lovell.
Neff did not make it very far before crashing into a fence and car, Lovell said. People at the party helped deputies locate the man at his nearby home.
No one was injured during the incident. An estimate on the amount of damage caused was not immediately available Tuesday morning.
The incident has been forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution. The deputy involved may also be disciplined for inadvertently leaving the vehicle un locked, Lovell said.
