TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Nobody does it like Oscar de la Renta. Five hundred and forty people were enrapt for 20 minutes during the Saks Fifth Avenue presented fashion show for the League to Save Lake Tahoe Saturday, Aug. 6.
On a runway beside the bluest of lakes under a beautiful blue sky, the Spanish-inspired Resort 2012 collection of daywear and evening wear featured bolero jackets, pom-pom trimmed flamenco hats, some very high heels from his new shoe collection and several red carpet celebrity-worthy long gowns.
These were presented before a delicious lunch prepared by Moody's Catering was served. Chef Tom Marrin prepared chicken schnitzel served over a bed of arugula, heirloom tomatoes, and shaved fennel splashed with lemon caper vinaigrette.
After lunch an auctioneer from Christies got on stage and proceeded to raise beaucoup bucks for the “Keep Tahoe Blue” themed organization. Most live auction items raised money in the five figure range. With a dubious economy and a currently volatile stock market, one thing with a winning financial formula is the annual League's Oscar de la Renta fashion show.
Fashionistas in attendance included Catherine Macfee and daughters Justine and Lindsay Macfee, Bruce Carrade, Kathleen Dale of Wolfdale's, Sherri Thibaut, Noel Nixon, Deborah and Ed Scott (they came by boat named The Saga), GG Ouf, Kali Kopley from Uncorked with Chris Hill, Karen and Andy Wirth, Dagmar Dolby, Kern Shumacher, Maria Urso, Annette and Peter VanDyck, Melanie and John Higley, Lisa and Robert Kessler, Troy and Julie Schumacher, Pat Shock, Nancy Binz, Helga Marty, Marilyn and Michael Cabak, Uli Schmid-Maybach and Danielle Bersen, Nora and Michael Oliver, Genta and Fred Luddy, and Cathy Rawiszer and Dustin Oliver.
