SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The entire community is invited to the Community Winter Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 2, with new additions this year.
The approximate time of events is as follows:
5 p.m. — Everyone meet at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center. There will be complimentary hot chocolate and cookies available, as well as holiday music from DJ, Derek Tarpey, Lake DJ. Refreshments will also be available at the Tahoe Art League Gallery, between the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center and the Visitor's Center.
5-5:20 p.m. — The South Lake Tahoe Children's Choral Society, led by Paul Kushner will sing outside, in front of the Senior Center.
5:25 p.m. — Santa will arrive by sleigh and lead people to the tree and menorah in front of the Visitors Center around the corner.
5:30 p.m. — Santa will arrive at the tree and menorah for a countdown — before the lighting switch will turn on the Christmas Tree and the Jewish Menorah with Rabbi Evon Yakar of Temple Bat Yam.
5:40 p.m. — Santa will lead a walk back to the Senior Center for photo opportunities. Free Sleigh rides by Borges Sleigh rides, courtesy of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. will be available across from the Senior Center.
There will also be tours of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum and the 1930s log cabin, across from the SLT Sr. Ctr.
Free Energy Efficient CFL bulbs will be distributed in the Sr. Ctr., courtesy of Liberty Energy (California Pacific Electric Company).
Bring your camera to take photos with Santa, inside the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, or in front of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum's Victorian Tree.
Donations for Christmas Cheer (food and toys and Caps for Kids) will be most appreciated.
