Watercolor classes start next week

Nationally recognized artist Teri Sweeney is currently putting together her watercolor classes in Gardnerville and South Lake Tahoe for 2012. She is offering beginning and intermediate/advanced classes in both locations starting the first week of January.

In the beginning classes, Sweeney supplies students with a reference photo and a drawing for them to trace in order for students to concentrate on developing watercolor techniques. For intermediate/advanced classes, students bring their own reference photographs to work from following guidelines supplied to them by Sweeney in advance of the first class of the month. These students will be following a format to develop skills as an independent artist such as design, composition, drawing and developing their own style.

All classes and projects run in four-week sessions, starting the first week of every month.

The Lake Tahoe classes are at the Tahoe Art League Art Center (3062 Lake Tahoe Blvd. next to the Senior Center). Classes are on Tuesdays with beginning classes from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and intermediate/advanced from 6-8:30 p.m. These classes are ongoing and new students are welcome to join in at any time.

The Gardnerville classes are held at Sweeney's studio (1092 Oro Way) on Wednesdays. Beginning classes are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and intermediate/advanced are 1-3:30 p.m.
