The Doors have a new single.

A producer discovered the song as he was preparing a 40th anniversary re-issue of “L.A. Woman,” the rock band's sixth and final album recorded while singer Jim Morrison was alive.

“It was like a buried treasure,” said keyboardist Ray Manzarek, who performs at Harrah's Lake Tahoe Saturday.

The album will be released Jan. 24 with the newly discovered song, “She Smells So Nice.”

“That's a new song that we didn't know existed; nobody did,” Manzarek said. “It came out of the blue. It came out of knowing it was the 40th anniversary of ‘L.A. Woman.'

“Bruce Botnick, our producer and engineer, started listening to stuff and said, ‘Holy Cow! Come in. Come in and listen to this.' And we went into the studio into his listening space and there was this cut that we had completely forgotten.”

“L.A. Woman” was released in April 1971, and Morrison died three months later in Paris at age 27.

The surviving members of the Doors — Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore — released in 1978 the band's final record, “An American Prayer,” with music set to tapes of Morrison reading his poetry.

The Manzarek-Rogers Band, a quartet including slide guitarist Roy Rogers, last year released a CD, “Translucent Blues.” The band performs at 7:30 p.m. in the South Shore Room.
