The business community is invited to attend an employment law update “What's on Your Mind?” 9 a.m.-noon Jan. 24 at the TahoeChamber Conference Room, 169 Highway 50, Stateline.
The seminar is sponsored by the Tahoechamber.org in partnership with the Sierra Human Resources Association. It includes updated information that managers and business professionals need to know for 2012.
There will be a question and answer session with attorneys from both California and Nevada. David Cohen of Cohen Durrett, LLP in Sacramento and Dustin Clark of Littler Mendelson, Las Vegas will cover new laws as well as best employment practices in general. Expect to hear information on social media in the workplace, changes in wage and hour and discrimination law, meal period requirements and developments related to benefits, health insurance and leaves of absence, as well as updates on arbitration, discrimination, class action, new NLRB rulings, expansion of retaliation claims, genetic characteristics protection, best hiring practices, new posting requirements and opinions and trends to watch in 2012.
