Elks help Women's Center with grant

The Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge kicked off its Impact Grant activity with the South Lake Tahoe Women's Center at their facility on Jan.17.

The Elks presented a $6,000 Impact Grant to the Women's Center.

One of the first tasks accomplished was the preparation of 50 snack lunches for the needy.

A planning meeting was held to coordinate how and when Impact Grant funds will be used to meet the goals of the grant. In addition to the twice monthly snack lunches, the Elks Lodge will provide nutrition brochures, emergency meal vouchers, food pantry items, Easter baskets, holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas and holiday shopping for children.

The Elks' IImpact Grants are competitive awards to Elk Lodges across the country and are just one part of the Elks Community Investment Programs designed to address unmet needs in communities. These Community Investment Programs are funded from the Elks National Foundation Trust Fund that is in turn funded by donation from Elks Members.
