SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its 7th anniversary Winter MusicFest with the "Brrroque Masters" concert series March 8-16.
The program features guest cellist Jeffrey Lastrapes performing Five Pieces for cello and strings by Francois Couperin, and several unaccompanied selections.
Violinist Virginia Bowman joins Lastrapes for Vivaldi's Concerto in B flat for violin and cello RV 547, and guest violinist Brune Macary performs Vivaldi's Winter Concerto from the Four Seasons.
The second half of the program includes Scarlatti's secular cantata Su le sponde del tebro a tour de force for Mark Lord, baroque trumpet and Joy Strotz, soprano, and organist David Brock interprets Händel's Concerto for Organ Op. 4 #6. The concert culminates with selections of J. S. Bach's Cantata #147 "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", featuring Anna Helwing, soprano and Stuart Duke, baritone.
Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.
The kick off Performance is March 8 at West Shore Cafe in Homewood. Appetizers and wine start at 4:30 p.m., the concert at 5 p.m. and a Chef's Special four-course dinner with three gourmet wines starts at 7 p.m. Tickets for concert and dinner are $110 and limited to 60 people.
The three other performances of the series are 3 p.m. March 11 in St. Theresa's Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe; 7 p.m. March 14 an Trinity Church, Reno; and 7 p.m. March 16 a in St Patrick's Church, Incline Village.
Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students age 19-25 and can be purchased at the door with cash or check or online with credit card. Preferred seating is available for $35.
