Last spring, TTUSD sought public input through a school calendar survey. According to Steve Dickinson, assistant superintendent of finance, results showed it was fairly unanimous five days for Thanksgiving was not preferred, and while it was split down the middle regarding whether to have a full week for Ski Skate Week, the message was clear everyone wants a week off for Spring Break. Administrators created calendar scenarios for both 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 to be considered by the trustees. Full survey results can be viewed online at www.ttusd.org/calendarsurveyresults.The board will vote to adopt calendars at the next board meeting, Wednesday, March 7, in the TTUSD Board Room at the district offices in Truckee, the public portion of which starts at 5:30 p.m.V-Day Performance Tahoe SAFE Alliance is thrilled to once again participate in the V-Day Worldwide Campaign and offer a production of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, The Vagina Monologues, March 9 and 10, Community Arts Center, Church Street in Truckee. Sierra Agape Center now offers divorce mediation on a sliding fee basis beginning at $100 per hour. Kimball C. Pier, LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist with advanced divorce mediation certification and 10 years of experience in divorce and family mediation. Mediation is an alternative to attorney litigated divorce and can create opportunities for couples to work through the process without permanent damage to a future relationship as parents. Research shows even though divorce is difficult for children, they adjust more quickly and with diminished negative effects when parents are able to co-parent with respect and good will toward one another.
