Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — This just might be the week of weather in Tahoe — a little rain, a little snow, a little sunshine and clouds. Guess it must be spring in Tahoe. At least that is what the calendar for next week reports — Tuesday is the first day of spring. Time to move into a new season. And this weekend take a little time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day Tahoe style at one of our local establishments.

This is AmeriCorps Week so be sure to say thank you to a member of the Parasol AmericCorps team. Thanks for Getting Things Done for Tahoe AmeriCorps.

Spring stuff is happening this month at the Recreation Center. Mike Simon begins his micro soccer program on March 26 and be sure to go to the Rec. Center on March 31 for the annual Underwater Egg Hunt. It is a real splash for the kids and great fun to watch.

Bowling news from Bowl Incline's tournament last weekend show we had 23 teams participating in the event and even though our local bowlers did not finish with first place they all made us proud. Nine teams from Incline participated — wow! Next up is the Battle of the House tournament on April 7 at Gold Dust West in Carson City. Let's go Incline!

Star Follies tickets go on sale in April so mark down the dates of April 27 and 28 and be sure to get tickets at the Potlatch in April. This is one event you must attend this spring.

If you plan to attend the SNC Apres Ski and Snowboard Award Dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Tahoe Biltmore, be sure to RSVP by Friday, March 16, to adabrowska@sierranevada.edu or 775-881-7589.

Another April event to attend is The Empty Bowls event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 19 at the Incline Middle School in the Forum. Students in the art departments at Incline Middle School, Incline High School and Lake Tahoe School create one of a kind ceramic bowls for this event. For $10 you can pick out your bowl and have a great bowl of soup. Part of the proceeds from this event will go to Project MANA.

And still one more upcoming event that you want to mark on your calendar now is the Tahoe Family Solutions annual campaign dinner May 3 at Big Water Grille. Watch for invitations to be mailed this month.

Happy anniversary to Jillaine and David Geddes. Congratulations.

Birthdays to celebrate this week include: Alice Kujawa on March 12; Maggie Browder and Joe Humasti's 65th on March 13! Thanks for all you do Joe; Hugh Golds and Pam Moutinho on March 15; Carol Buergin and Bill Robbins on March 16; Victoria Baker and Tanya Soule on March 17; Mariah McDonald on March 18; Nicholas Iida on March 19; Brad Flora on March 20; Amy Rosen on March 21 and a very special Happy Birthday to Briana Barraza on March 22.
