STATELINE, Nev. and#8212; Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo and Ray Romano are all slated to play the American Century Championship on July 17-22 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
The 23-year-old tournament will feature many NFL past and present athletes, including New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck, Denver Broncos Hall of Fame quarterback and general manager John Elway and NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice. First-timers this year include Tuck, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, former New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics slugger David Justice, and former MLB All-Star first baseman Tino Martinez.
More than two decades of memories with sports and entertainment stars has made the American Century Championship network television's longest-running celebrity golf tournament. For the seventh consecutive year, the official tournament charity is Livestrong and#8212; the organization founded by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong to inspire and empower people affected by cancer. Since the tournament's inception in 1990, more than $3.5 million has been raised for a variety of national and local charities.
The American Century Championship will award $600,000 in prize money, with the tournament winner receiving $125,000. Scoring is based on a modified Stableford format with 10 points for a double eagle, 8 for a hole-in-one, 6 for eagle, 3 for birdie, 1 for par, 0 for bogey, and minus 2 for double-bogey or higher. The 54-hole tournament has been played at Edgewood Tahoe's 6,707-yard lakeside course since it began.
Defending champion and actor Jack Wagner and#8212; who will take part of ABC's and#8220;Dancing With the Starsand#8221; cast this spring and#8212; returns with a chance of adding a third American Century Championship victory to his trophy shelf. As will other past tournament winners, including 2010 ACC winner, former NFL quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver, eight-time winner Rick Rhoden, and four-time champion Dan Quinn, the former NHL star who is caddying for Ernie Els on the PGA Tour this spring. Tony Romo, who has finished second the last three years, also will compete.
Actors playing this year include Ray Romano of and#8220;Men of a Certain Ageand#8221; and and#8220;Everybody Loves Raymond,and#8221; John O'Hurley of and#8220;Seinfeld,and#8221; and#8220;Family Feudand#8221; and and#8220;Dancing With the Stars,and#8221; Alfonso Riberio from and#8220;Fresh Prince of Bel Air,and#8221; and Bruce McGill of numerous films including and#8220;Animal Houseand#8221; and and#8220;The Insider.and#8221;
Basketball will be represented by All-Stars Jordan and Barkley, as well as Jason Kidd of the world champion Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics star Ray Allen, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Shane Battier of the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro, and ESPN analyst Digger Phelps.

Tickets are available for advance purchase online at www.tahoesouth.com, www.tahoecelebritygolf.com beginning April 1 and daily during the tournament at the gate. Tickets are also being sold at 127 Raley's, Nob Hill and Bel Air locations throughout Northern California and Nevada beginning June 1.
Prices are $15 each day for the Lake Tahoe Celebrity-Amateur on Tuesday, July 17; the practice round on Wednesday, July 18; and for the American Century Celebrity-Amateur on Thursday, July 19. Tickets will be $25 for each tournament round, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From April 1 to May 31, a Patron Badge Season Pass, good for admission all six days, will be on sale for $50. Beginning June 1, the price is $60. Kids 10 and under are free when accompanied with a paid adult.
