Inclineand#8217;s Edward Parkhill helps Grizzly Pee Wees advance to state championship

The Pee Wee hockey team from the South Tahoe Amateur Hockey Association advanced to the California State Hockey Championships recently with a second-place finish in its postseason tournament.

The California State Hockey Championships are scheduled for April 13-15 in San Jose.

On Friday, March 23, the Tahoe Grizzlies faced the California Cougars Pee Wee team from Cupertino, Calif. The Grizzlies came out strong and pounced the Cougars by a winning score of 4-2.

The following morning, the Grizzlies lost 5-3 to the Fresno Monsters. The Grizzlies demonstrated the depth of their team in the loss, with their three goals scored by three different players.

The Grizzlies stomped on the Redwood City Black Stars 7-2 later that afternoon. Reiss Jensen of Reno scored a hat trick and Incline’s Edward Parkhill also had three points as he scored one goal and delivered two assists.

The championship game was held Sunday afternoon. Again the Grizzlies faced the Monsters. It was a hard-fought game, but in the end the Monsters pulled off the 3-2 win.

Both the Fresno Monsters and the Tahoe Grizzlies advanced to the state tournament.
