Village Notes: What’s happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Time for April showers to bring out our flowers, and down along Lakeshore it looks like some flowers are starting to cooperate. A big shout out to everyone who plants flowers for the community to enjoy. Earth Day is Sunday, so go enjoy the earth and do what you can in our community. Oh in case you did not hear, the driving range is now open at our Championship Golf Course. Of course our beaches are always ready. Let’s go enjoy Tahoe.The Empty Bowls event is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. tonight at Incline Middle School in the Forum. Pick out a ceramic bowl for only $10 created by an art student and enjoy a bowl of soup. Plus proceeds from this will help our local food shelf, Project MANA.On Saturday the women of The Village Church and St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church will be sharing a brunch and program by Michele Rickett, founder and president of She is Safe. The event starts at 10 a.m. at The Village Church and for information call 775-831-0784. Also don’t miss Twain on Taxes at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at the Toccata Performing Arts Theater in the Village Center. For information and to purchase tickets go to www.toccatatahoe.com.The annual Kids for Conservation earth day event is 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. This is free for children ages 3-10 and features lots of hands on activities.Star Follies tickets are now on sale at the Potlatch. This annual fundraiser for our schools is April 27-28 at the Cal Neva.Congratulations to Thomas Lippert for making the Dean’s List at Seattle Pacific University. Always happy to hear how our local students are doing at school.And a huge shout out to Samantha Wood, physician’s assistant for Dr. Koch. Her father just happens to be David Wood, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his work on a series called “Beyond the Battlefield.” What an honor.A belated birthday wish to Incline’s Mr. Chocolate, Aaron Zendner on April 15.
