Sacramento Beeand#8217;s political columnist to analyze state election

The California primary election and its potential to impact life in state is the topic of Sacramento Bee political columnist Dan Waltersand#8217; upcoming appearance presented by Squaw Valley Institute.

The event takes place at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn in Squaw Valley at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10. A no-host bar reception begins at 6:30 p.m.

While Californiaand#8217;s budget crisis continues, Gov. Jerry Brown, civil rights attorney Molly Munger and the California Taxpayers Association have weighed in on how to solve the crisis. Which option are voters most likely to back? Other issues such as the proposed high-speed bullet train and the continuing high unemployment rates face voters this year.

Can political solutions impact unemployment? Come hear Walters speak about these issues and more.

Walters is a syndicated political columnist and journalist for more than 40 years, working almost exclusively for California newspapers. He joined The Sacramento Unionand#8217;s capitol bureau in 1975 as Brown began his governorship. He later became the Unionand#8217;s capitol bureau chief. In 1981, he began writing the stateand#8217;s only daily newspaper column devoted to California political, economic and social events and in 1984, he and the column moved to the Sacramento Bee.

He is also the founding editor of the and#8220;California Political Almanac,and#8221; and co-author of and#8220;The Third House: Lobbyists, Money and Power in Sacramento,and#8221; a book on lobbying. Walters is a frequent guest on national television news shows commenting on California politics, and will share his unique insights on Juneand#8217;s California primary.

Tickets are $10 for Squaw Valley Institute members and $15 for non-members.
