TAHOE/TRUCKEE — Snow=water=rafting=fun! Don't miss IRIE Rafting Company's annual guide school, May 11-20.
Join a fun-filled and educational 10-day guide school on Northern California's exceptional whitewater rivers, progressing from Class II to Class V. A $700 tuition includes meals, transportation, gear, instruction and CPR/First AID certifications. This training is ideal for individuals interested in working as a guide, or those of you who just want to get out on the river. No experience necessary.
IRIE has operated in Northern California for 15 years and would like to add to their current guide team from guide school trainees and in-house training. Guide school does not guarantee participants full-time employment; however, successful graduates should be able to work on peak days and large trips after they deomstrate the capability of guiding commercial guests. Eighty percent of business occurs on the Lower Truckee River (Class III) so it is a great river to hone your skills and begin your guiding career. IRIE also offers Class IV-V whitewater trips. Training opportunities on advanced whitewater are available throughout the season. Guide school graduates are encouraged to join these trips and may use IRIE equipment when available to improve skills by joining existing trips.
IRIE Rafting Company strives to provide a commercial rafting experience that exceeds the consumer's expectations of service. They are uniquely green and recycle; purchase sustainable, fair trade and organic goods when possible; give back to the community and donate funds and in-kind services to organizations and programs; practice Leave No Trace; integrate on-river environmental education through knowledge of flora and fauna, geographical history and preservation techniques.
