The Diamond Peak Ski Team’s J4/5 athletes displayed their racing prowess at the Far West J4/5 Championships at Northstar last month, as Winston Pretti took top honors for the J4 men and Julia Holm won the J5 women’s title.
And that wasn’t all. Diamond Peak J4 Belle Johnson finished second for the J4 ladies and Casey Delaney was fourth for the J4 men, while Rachel Delaney and Emily Donahue both placed 14th for J5 and J4 ladies, respectively.
Only two boys out of the entire Western Division stood on the podium twice in the three core events, and that was Delaney, who finished second in the super G and giant slalom, and Pretti, who was third in the GS and second in the slalom.
Delaney’s efforts earned him the Allan Cup, which is awarded to the best J4 boy and girl who finished all three races, slalom, GS and super G.
Holm proved her stamina again as she put down multiple clean runs, taking fourth in both the GS and slalom and fifth in the super G.
The fourth and final day of the J4/5 Championships concluded with a fun Dual Kombi made up of stubbies, brushes, mushrooms and gates with racers decked out in costumes, wigs and fancy pants trying to choose the best pair of skis to match the crazy course.
