Tahoe City crime logs: March 26-April 15

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Below are select incidents from the Placer County Sheriff's Office press log for March 26-April 15.

DUI: 1

Drunk in public: 2

March 26

• At 11:30 a.m. near 850 North Lake Boulevard on Tahoe City, officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect removed a GPS unit from a victim’s snowmobile.

March 27

• At 6 a.m. on the 8700 block on Dolly Varden Avenue in Kings Beach, officers responded to a report that, at sometime overnight, an unknown suspect removed snowboarding equipment from a victim’s unlocked vehicle.

March 28

• At 10:30 a.m. on Painted Rock Court in Olympic Valley, officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect entered a victim’s residence and removed personal electronics to the sum of $1,400.

• At 6:45 p.m. on Chipmunk Street in Olympic Valley, officers responded to a report that two male subjects had allegedly stolen $20 in firewood from a victim’s property.

March 29

• On Chapel Lane in Tahoe City, officers responded to a report that, sometime within the past 2 weeks, an unknown suspect had vandalized a victim’s bear box, causing damage.

• At 8 a.m. on Preble Way in Carnelian Bay, officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect attempted to purchase a computer with a victim’s credit card.

• At 4 p.m. on the 2000 block Alpine Meadows Road, officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect removed a laptop computer from an unlocked rental vehicle.

• At 5:30 p.m., a male subject got lost when he left the Bradley Hut and attempted to ski back to Squaw Valley. A search and rescue was initiated, but the victim was self-rescued after 3 hours of the search.

March 30

At 6 p.m. on Gstaad Road near Homewood, officers responded to a report that male suspects had removed $100 of firewood from an unoccupied residence, but quickly returned the wood when they found out they were caught red-handed.

April 2

• At 11 a.m. on Deer Creek Road in Alpine Meadows, two females were cited for assault when an argument broke out over a dog issue. One female allegedly pepper sprayed the dogs in self-defense when three unleashed dogs came after her while jogging. The dog owner showed up irate because her dogs were pepper sprayed and allegedly drove her car toward the victim in a threatening manner. Each party filled out a citizen’s arrest form.

• At 4 p.m. on the 1500 block of North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect removed $3,200 worth of collectible and personal items.

• At 6 p.m. at the Village at Squaw Valley, a suspect was asked to leave a local drinking establishment after assaulting the manager.

April 4

• At 8 a.m. on Squaw Creek Road in Olympic Valley, officers responded to a report that that an unknown suspect removed victim’s camera equipment to the tune of $3,700 between April 1-2.

• At 10 a.m. near North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, officers responded to a report of a bear shooting due to alleged chronic bear break-ins. The bear did succumb to gunshot wounds.

April 7

• At noon on West River Street in Truckee, officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect smashed in a victim’s residence with a sledgehammer and removed personal items.

April 9

At 8:30 p.m. on the 7800 block of North Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach, officers responded to a report that a male subject took a case of beer without paying and fled on a bicycle.

April 10

• At 4 p.m. on the 900 block of North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, officers responded to a report that an employee at a local eatery was struck in the face by an unknown customer for an unknown reason.

April 12

• At 1 p.m., officers responded to a report that an unknown suspect removed victim’s backpack and camera on Aprill 9 from the basketball court at Kings Beach State Beach while the victim was playing basketball.

April 14

• Officers responded to a report that, sometime overnight on Watson Drive in Tahoe City, an unknown suspect bent a victim’s windshield wiper blade.
