TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Dragonfly Restaurant will host the Arts for The Schools’ 7th annual student art show slated for May 10. The art exhibit kicks off with an opening reception from 4-6 p.m. to view and buy the artistic masterpieces crafted by children throughout the region. Dragonfly is offering attendees 50 percent off signature dishes, appetizers and sushi for this night.
Dubbed “Artists in Bloom,” the show will feature more than 400 pieces of Tahoe Truckee children’s artwork. Art pieces were selected from a variety of elementary school classes, including artwork created in the Arts For the Schools Artist-in-Residence program.
“We are so grateful to have Dragonfly as our host for this year’s event again,” said Raine Howe, Arts For the Schools executive director. “Billy is a tremendous supporter of Arts For the Schools and in addition to this annual event he has provided a section of his restaurant as a permanent rotating display for student artwork for sale to the public.”
This year’s Truckee show features selected poetry and images of students’ paintings on eggs created under the direction of Cathee St. Clair. The art pieces will be on sale and all proceeds benefit Arts For the Schools.
“This is a way for our children to give back to the community by sharing their creativity and spirit,” said chef and owner Billy McCullough. “We are happy to be hosting this worthy event.”
