TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Bespoke, downtown Truckeeand#8217;s newest retail space and studio, will host its grand opening event Friday, May 11, 4-8 p.m.

All are welcome to check out this new addition and enjoy food, refreshments and music by local group and#8220;Quartet Minus Oneand#8221; during the grand opening festivities.

Bespoke is a storefront and#8212; soon to also include a workshop area and#8212; focused on artisan-made goods and vintage, custom home furnishings. Local artist Heather River has spent years collecting a range of hand-crafted goods she describes as and#8220;a mix of new meets oldand#8221; that will be featured in Bespoke, alongside many of her own creations.

All of the goods featured at Bespoke will be handmade by artisans, or products of small U.S. companies, with a focus on and#8220;slowand#8221; creation. Bespokeand#8217;s collection has been carefully crafted and selected by River, who is a graduate of the Fashion Institute in San Francisco, and has capitalized on her many years of art education and expertise in creating this new business endeavor. River has lived in Truckee for nearly eight years, and has been involved with two other local businesses prior to deciding to open up her own and#8212; a move she said sheand#8217;s been working toward and invested herself in for quite some time.

and#8220;Bespoke is a business I have been crafting in my head for years,and#8221; River said. and#8220;I have spent months looking for the right space, and years collecting artist contacts, and vintage and rare finds. I canand#8217;t wait to share my store with you!and#8221;

Though Bespoke will open solely as a retail space, a workshop area in the rear of the store is in the works. Once up and running, this area will provide art classes and discussions to the public, and a space for creative minds to meet, learn, explore and create.

Bespoke is located at 10130 Donner Pass Road in downtown Truckee. Following Fridayand#8217;s grand opening event, the storefront will be open daily, with the following hours: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. ; Saturday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
