Tahoe Basin road construction season under way

Like always, the shift to summer weather brings flower buds, and#8220;cheeseburgerand#8221; birds and road construction projects. The following is a synopsis of what motorists around the Tahoe area can expect to encounter this summer.

Interstate 80

Where: Emigrant Gap on Interstate 80

What: Lane Replacement

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: up to 30 Minutes

Where: Donner Summit to West of Donner Park OC

What: Lane Replacement

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: up to 30 minutes

California Highway 89

Where: Highway 89, from post mile 13 to 21

What: Pavement Rehabilitation

When: Late Spring to Fall 2012

Possible delays: up to 20 minutes

Where: Highway 89, from post mile 0 to 8.5

What: Water quality Improvements and paving

When: May to October 2012/2016

Possible delays: up to 10 minutes

California Highway 267

Where: Highway 267, near Northstar to near Brockway Summit

What: Slope stabilization and shoulder paving

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: up to 15 minutes

Nevada Highway 207

Where: Highway 207, Kingsbury Grade from Jct. 50 to Dagget Pass

What: Erosion control and retaining wall replacement

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: up to 30 minutes

U.S. Highway 50

Where: Highway 50, from Zephyr Cove to Glenbrook

What: Drop inlet modifications

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: minimal

Where: Highway 50, City of South Lake Tahoe from Trout Creek Bridge to Ski Run Boulevard

What: Water quality improvements, roadway widening and paving

When: May to October 2013

Possible delays: up to 25 minutes

Where: Highway 50, from Cave Rock to Spooner Junction

What: Slope stability and erosion control improvements

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: Up to 10 minutes

Where: Highway 50, City of South Lake Tahoe from 1200 West of Ski Run Boulevard to Wildwood Avenue

What: Water quality improvements, roadway widening and paving

When: May to October 2013

Possible delays: up to 10 minutes

Nevada Highway 431

Where: Highway 431, from Highway 28 to Mount Rose Summit

What: Water quality improvements

When: May to October 2012

Possible delays: up to 10 minutes

Nevada Highway 28

Where: Highway 28, from Mount Rose Highway to the California state line

What: Water quality and erosion control Improvements

When: May to October 2012, day and night work in July and August

Possible delays: up to 30 minutes

Where: Highway 28 and Mount Rose Highway intersection

What: Roundabout construction
