Incline senior and defending state champion Jordan Wright leads the 2A State Championship tournament in Needles after Day 1 on Monday.
Wright, who claimed the Northern 2A title at Edgewood Tahoe this past Thursday, posted a first-day score of 71 to lead the 46 golfers in the two-day tournament.
Keith Flowers of Mountain View is one stroke behind Wright, while Nick Marich of White Pine and Quayd Brooks of Lake Mead each posted a 73.
Whittell leads the way as a team with a collective score of 400. Needles and White Pine are tied for second with scores of 412, followed by The Meadows (413), Incline (418) and North Tahoe (448).
Among the Incline contingent, Dylan Smith and John Larson each carded an 82 and are tied for 19th. Sam Canino shot an 86, Arjun Singh a 97 and Ian Reeves a 99.
The tournament continues Tuesday.
