TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Police on Thursday arrested a man and woman on numerous felony charges stemming from an incident in which a homeowner arrived home to find the couple allegedly ransacking his garage.
David Johnathan Gish, 22, of Reno, and Christina McCurtain, 19, of Truckee, were booked Thursday in Nevada County Jail in Truckee, each on $25,000 bail, after police say they stole property from a Tahoe Donner Subdivision home earlier that morning.
According to a Truckee Police Department press release, officers were dispatched at about 8 a.m. to the home after the homeowner reported two unknown individuals were inside his garage removing property.
According to Truckee Police, as the homeowner parked his vehicle, Gish and McCurtain entered a blue Dodge truck and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The homeowner called 911 and attempted to follow the truck, but lost sight.
After an extensive search, officers located the truck parked in the Ski Bowl Condominiums in Tahoe Donner. Gish and McCurtain were located exiting the vehicle and were taken into custody without incident.
Stolen property from the garage was recovered and returned to the owner.
According to Truckee Police, the blue Dodge had been reported stolen two weeks prior after an additional residential burglary from an address in Tahoe Donner. The vehicle was recovered and later returned to the registered owner.
Gish was booked on charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, stolen vehicle and felon in possession of a deadly weapon, while McCurtain was booked on charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and a stolen vehicle.
