Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Yeah, opening day for the Incline beaches is Wednesday, May 23. Remember last year when we wondered if winter would ever end? No problem this year, just get out and enjoy. Please remember when using all of our Tahoe beaches to carry extra trash bags as the usual broken glass and other trash is already out there so leave no trace.Congratulations to all of the 2012 SNC grads. Graduation was last Saturday at SNC.If you would like to take a little trip this weekend, Mammoth Mountain and the US Ski team will be hosting a special event for women starting on Friday, May 18. The Chix on Stix event will include our local Lila Lapanja as a guest coach. For information go to www.mammothmountain.com.Still a few Fur Ball tickets left but they are selling fast. This annual community pet event is to help animals avoid euthanasia. To get tickets to the June 2 Fur Ball call 775-832-4404 or stop at the Pet Network facility.Still time to help the ladies of the Incline Hospital Auxiliary with its annual Classy Garage Sale. The annual sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 8, in the parking lot of the Incline Village Hospital. Donations of all kinds except clothing and if you have some large items arrange to have them picked up by calling Cookie at 775-831-2698 or Barbara at 775-832-6760.Red, White and Tahoe Blue needs a grand marshal for the annual community parade on July 7. Please help pick someone from the community for this honor. We missed you.A shout out to Leslie and Dennis Mederiros as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of full time residency in Incline on May 22.Congratulations to Jessie and Brian Schaefer on their wedding! And happy anniversary to Kari and Matt Ferguson on May 23.A very happy birthday to two very special young men in our community. Kendall and Logan Hoopes will be 11 on May 21.
