Letter to the Editor: Thanks for support for Eagler Scout project

My name is Drew Bessette and I am a Boy Scout in Troop 37. I recently completed my Eagle Scout and I would like to thank everyone in the community that assisted me with the completion of my service project. Without their help, the project would not have been a success.

For my project, we built six benches for the top of Diamond Peak — two benches at the tops of Lodgepole, Lakeview and Crystal Express — for snowboarders and skiers to sit on after unloading from the chairlift.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to my project:

Jason Millet from Western Nevada Supply gave me an extreme discount on the galvanized steel piping that the benches bases are made from. The Village Ski Loft donated the snowboards for the tops of the benches. Eric Strotz also donated a snowboard. Byrne Falke of Ace Hardware was very generous in donating many of the supplies. The families of John Welsch and Ted Fuller donated funding for the project to purchase materials. The Optimist Club of Incline Village, The Hyatt, and RBC Wealth Management also donated funding for the project. I would like to personally thank Fred Findlen and Peter Bessette for their generosity. Kim Schmidt and Russel Cory donated many hours of their time helping me plan and complete my project. My troop, my friends, and the adult leaders helped me build the benches. Diamond Peak, and specifically Mike Bandelin for all of their help.

Thank you all for your generosity and support!
