Incline grad to offer free musical theater cabaret

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Casey Canino graduated cum laude from California State University, Fullerton on May 19, 2012, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater. She also received an honors diploma for completing the university’s honors program. Casey is the daughter of Tom and Tanya Canino and a 2008 Incline High School graduate, who performed in the high school’s musicals of Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz and Oliver!

Casey was one of 10 students accepted into the BFA in Musical Theater program, after a series of auditions during her first two years at Cal State Fullerton. While at school, she performed in Godspell, The Wedding Singer, Footloose!, A Grand Night for Singing, The Mikado and Pirates of Penzance. She was a member of a musical variety group, which opened for Heart at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Her first professional job was in May as a cut dancer in 3D Theatrical’s production of A Chorus Line. After an acting internship with the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival this summer, Casey is returning to Los Angeles in the fall to work in more shows before eventually moving to New York City next year.

As a thank you to the friends, community members and organizations who have encouraged and supported Casey through her college years, she is offering a free musical theater cabaret at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, at the Toccata Incline Performing Arts Center in the Village Center.
