Chico jam band inundates the Red Room

CRYSTAL BAY, Nev. — The Red Room will be filled with Swamp Zen on Friday.

Swamp Zen combines the funk of James Brown, the song writing of Van Morrison, and the winding improvisation of the Grateful Dead to create its own brand of original dance music. The band from Chico, Calif., performs free in the Crystal Bay Casino Red Room on Friday, June 1.

The sextet honors the jam band tradition by never playing a song the same way twice, press materials say, but is consistent in its musicianship and in delivering a high-energy show that brings people to the dance floor.

The music moves seamlessly between styles including funk, jazz, Latin, country, techno, reggae and more. Did we lose you at techno? Most importantly it has a blast on stage, and this contagious attitude is spread throughout the audience to make for a shared musical experience unlike any other.

This show is for folks 21 and older.
