Village Notes: Whatand#8217;s happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Thursday is Flag Day. Please fly our flag proudly to honor all of those that have served our country and those currently serving. And don’t forget to take time to celebrate Father’s Day Incline style this weekend. Take time to go golfing together, take a hike or just relax at the beach. Plan a barbecue and enjoy dad!

A reminder that school is out for the summer, so please be extra careful and watch for children on bikes and around parks and beaches. Summer begins officially next Wednesday and would be the perfect time to go to the water slide at Burnt Cedar.

Congratulations to all of the seniors and welcome back to all of the past grads as they return for the summer. Welcome home Jill Colbert. So glad the Bunco group is getting together to honor your return.

A special congrats to the graduating class from your friends at the Incline Recreation Center. Don’t forget all of the great summer programs available at the Rec Center — Bocce Ball sunset socials, camp Xtreme, Volleyball camps, senior hiking programs and much more. If you want something to do, head over to the Rec Center and they can help you find something.

From 5:30-7:30 Thursday, June 21, Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation is offering its extremely popular series Current Thoughts on the Economy for 2012. The event is free and a community favorite. For information or to reserve your space email jeane@parasol.org or call 775-298-0184.

Don’t forget the annual Golf Fore Education tournament is Sunday, June 24, at the Championship Course. This is a fundraiser for Incline Schools Academic Excellence Foundation (ISAEF), the Tahoe Nevada American Association of University Women and Project MANA. For information and to register go to www.golfforeeducation.com.

On Tuesday, July 10, at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences at SNC, Wendy Perrin of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine will share Secrets Every Smart Traveler Should Know. This is a fundraiser for READ. For information go to www.READEvent.org.

Save the Date of Sept. 6 for a unique signature event, The Community Table, presented by the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. Watch for more information to arrive in July.

Happy Anniversary to Bill and Amelia Black.

OK, sorry, I missed June Brown’s birthday on June 5, so belated wishes June; birthdays to celebrate this week include: Jack Morrison on June 15; Ryan Hogue and Don Hollingsworth on June 16; Lauren Iida and Keith Sheffield on June 19; C.J. Manthe and Manny Sylvester on June 20. Happy Birthday.

The best deal around this week is at Susie Scoops. Summer hours are now back. You can eat your favorite Tahoe Creamery selection right up to 10 p.m. What a great treat for Father’s Day. All dads like ice cream! Thanks Susie Scoops for all you do for our community.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and news, along with the best deals and steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
