Amateur radio operators to practice emergency communication skills

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; On Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, amateur radio operators from Auburn, Truckee and surrounding areas will construct and operate a working amateur radio field station at the Logger Campground at Stampede Reservoir near Truckee. This exciting nationwide event known as and#8220;Field Dayand#8221; is intended to prepare and train ham radio operators in emergency communication skills consistent with their role in natural disasters and civic emergencies. This educational 24-hour event begins Saturday at 11 a.m. and is open to the public.
