Amateur radio operators to practice emergency communication skills

TRUCKEE, Calif. — On Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, amateur radio operators from Auburn, Truckee and surrounding areas will construct and operate a working amateur radio field station at the Logger Campground at Stampede Reservoir near Truckee. This exciting nationwide event known as “Field Day” is intended to prepare and train ham radio operators in emergency communication skills consistent with their role in natural disasters and civic emergencies. This educational 24-hour event begins Saturday at 11 a.m. and is open to the public.
