KINGS BEACH, Calif. —-Beloved Kings Beach United Methodist Church Pastor Kathryn Dunning has been appointed to Eureka, Calif. She has touched the lives of many in the North Lake Tahoe area during her 11 years of service and Kings Beach will lose a great friend of our community when she is gone. She will be greatly missed.
During her 11 years as pastor, she has also been a vital part of the lives of many as a chaplain at Tahoe Forest Hospital and as a volunteer at Resort Ministries, providing Sunday worship for skiers at local resorts. Kathryn has also worked closely with organizations such as the Family Resource Center, the North Tahoe Business Association, North Tahoe United for Action and the North Tahoe Neighborhood Coalition. She has been an active volunteer tutoring children in reading, building houses with Habitat for Humanity and was a central part in the joining of a Spanish speaking church into Kings Beach United Methodist Church.
She is very passionate about Lake Tahoe and about uniting all of the people in our community and bridging our diverse cultures. She was always present at community events and you could count on seeing her kayaking on the lake or running into her walking her dog “K.B.”
There will be a simple potluck-style barbecue and send off at the Kings Beach United Methodist Church, 8425 Dolly Varden, Corner of Bear and Dolly Varden, in Kings Beach on Sunday, June 24, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Share a memory or offer a music dedication to Kathryn during the open mic time. She would be very happy to see you there!
In recognition of Kathryn and her husband Rob’s service to the Kings Beach community, the Dunning’s names will be inscribed in the Circle of Life located at the entry to the new Tahoe Forest Cancer Center.
