Katelyn Wright, an Incline High grad and to-be junior on the University of Nebraska womenand#8217;s golf team, qualified for the 64-player match-play portion of the 36th annual U.S. Womenand#8217;s Amateur Publinks Championships in New Jersey on Tuesday.
Wright shot a 73 on Monday and a 75 on Tuesday to close at 148 in the stroke-play portion of the tournament. She faced a field of 156 of the top amateur golfers in the country on the 6,221-yard, par-72 Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
After making the cut by one stroke with her two-round score, Wright was matched up against Emilie Burger of Hoschton, Ga., in Wednesdayand#8217;s opening round of match play. Burger defeated Wright to advance to the round of 32.
University of Nebraska teammate Steffi Neisen, meanwhile, followed a first-round 70 with a second-round 68 to finish in a tie for second overall in stroke play.
