Over the last few years there have been multiple incidents of trucks going off of the truck ramp at the bottom of H431 - Mt. Rose Highway.
Large trucks are seen in Mt. Rose Meadows dragging equipment behind, causing congestion. There are conga lines of double dump trucks parading down H28 through Incline blasting their jake brakes at 6 a.m.
The issue of parking on H28 near Sand Harbor is exacerbated by large trucks trundling up and down the road (bicycles, pedestrians, autos and trucks are a lethal mix and#8212; amazing that there havenand#8217;t been more incidents on such a narrow highway).
I have contacted NDOT and get the standard and#8220;we are looking into the issue.and#8221; Multiple truck related deaths must not be enough of a impetus. I have heard that even Caltrans has limits on the size of trucks over H267 - Brockway.
There are three venues into and out of Incline that trucks can use. I would suggest that and#8220;semiand#8221; trucks be banned from H431 - Mt. Rose; and limits placed on and#8220;doublesand#8221; running up and down H28 through town (not to mention banning the use of jake brakes). If NDOT doesnand#8217;t think enough of the issue to act, it would appear that we Incline residents should do so; before more people get killed.
