SOUTH LAKE TAHOE and#8212; Toccata will begin a series titled and#8220;Baroque to Broadwayand#8221; on Sunday, July 1, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe.
The concert is part of the groupand#8217;s 21-concert 2012 Tahoe Summer Music Fest. It will feature guest artist Josue Casillas, principle flutist from the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozartand#8217;s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D major and Vivaldiand#8217;s Concerto for Piccolo in C major Rv. 443.
The Toccata chorus will perform Barbersand#8217; Agnus Dei, the choral version of and#8220;Adagio for Strings.and#8221; Chorus and soloists will also perform spirituals and Broadway show tunes. The concert will open with an audience sing-along of and#8220;Star Spangled Bannerand#8221; and culminate in TOCCATAand#8217;s traditional and#8220;Battle Hymn of the Republicand#8221; and "America the Beautiful."
Other concerts in the series will be presented on Tuesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. in the recently opened sanctuary of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reno, (501 California Ave.) and again on Thursday, July 5 at 7:00pm in St. Patrickand#8217;s Episcopal Church in Incline Village (341 Village Blvd.).
Tickets cost $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62 and older and $5 for students age 19-23. Preferred seating costs $35.
