OLYMPIC VALLEY and#8212; River of Souls will perform a benefit concert perpetuating the musical legacy of Dan Fogelberg for the and#8220;Dan Fansand#8221; on Saturday, June 30.
River of Souls is a premiere tribute band dedicated to preserving and performing the authentic arrangements. It will perform in the Grand Ballroom of The Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in Fogelbergand#8217;s name.
Fogelberg was a prolific and successful songwriter and performer for several decades. His music had the ability to touch people deep in their soul, and his followers became extremely loyal. Dan died of prostate cancer in December 2007.
The following year, a group of musicians from Truckee and Reno, led by founding member and lead vocalist/guitarist Sheldon Felich, formed a tribute band to honor Fogelberg and his music.
and#8220;Everyone is touched, in some way or another, by cancer,and#8221; founding member Paul Rose stated in a press release. and#8220;We feel that keeping Danand#8217;s music in front of the public not only helps to preserve his musical legacy, but it also allows something positive to be created from his death, in the form of promoting prostate cancer research and awareness.and#8221;
Co-Founders of the Fogelberg Foundation of Peoria will be in attendance and will explain their mission and goals for preserving Danand#8217;s legacy.
The concert will also feature Tim Jessup of Sedona, Ariz., on guitars and vocals, and Remmel Wilson of Lake Tahoe on saxophone. Tickets are available at www.riverofsouls.net and at the door.
