INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. and#8212; A DUI checkpoint will operate on the Fourth of July at an undisclosed location in Incline Village, officials announced Friday.
The operation is funded by a and#8220;Joining Forcesand#8221; grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, officials said in a press release. The Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe County Sheriffand#8217;s Office, Sparks Police Department and Carson City Sheriffand#8217;s Office will oversee the sobriety checkpoint.
and#8220;Due to the fireworks display and other special events planned at Lake Tahoe, a large increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic expected during the holiday,and#8221; the NHP press release reads. and#8220;The increase in law enforcement presence at the lake will help deter motorists and pedestrians from entering the roadways while impaired.
In addition to the checkpoint, additional officers will patrol the area throughout the weekend, officials said.
