TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Kindred Art and Folk Institute invites you to share in their mission to support the community by providing creative, meaningful and sustainable educational opportunities, inspiring lifelong learning for individuals and families.
Start the summer with and#8220;Summer Sessionsand#8221; for children ages 5-12, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. offering opportunities to learn techniques used centuries ago by great artisans, creative projects that utilize the natural beauty of our environment and techniques used by professional artist today.
Also opening is the Kindred Artisan Shop, which embodies the lost art of craftsmanship and#8212; featuring local artists who specialize in using reclaimed and recycled materials. You will find a wide array of mediums from glass and metal jewelry, handcrafted clothing, toys, felted hairpieces, bags, hats, bath and body products using the finest natural ingredients and even some local gourmet favorites.
This autumn join Kindred Family Days that focuses on a mindful project that families can do together and at their own pace each month.
Kindred Women's Studio (KWS) will offer a variety of classes for artists at any level of experience. KWS offers classes like papermaking, printmaking, book arts, clay, terrarium building, sculpture, painting and more. All in a fun and relaxing environment with friends old and new.
The Kindred After School (children ages 5-14) is geared toward mindful and creative projects related to the seasons; with groups broken down by age and skill level.
Mommy/Daddy and Me (children ages 2-5) for children and parents to experience new ways to see explore and create in the world together.
At the Kindred Art and Folk Institute they focus on making the skills and knowledge necessary for a harmonious life more widely available. Experience the beauty of the region through arts, natural history, and contemporary strategies for sustainable living.
