Truckee Running Festival swings through Legacy Trail, Waddle Ranch

The Truckee Running Festival 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon and Kids Runs put on by Big Blue Adventure brought more than 120 people out to the Legacy Trail and Waddle Ranch this past Sunday.

In a field of 46 runners in the half-marathon, JB Benna, 33, took the overall win in a time of 1 hour and 33 minutes, while Jennifer Benna was the top woman and ninth overall in 1:46.

Ronald Hess of Fair Oaks was second in 1:34, and Matthew Dolan of Fallon, Nev., rounded out the top three in 1:35.

Among local finishers, Jim Telling of Incline Village placed seventh in a time of 1:40, Truckee's Roger Pynappel was 12th in 1:49, and Truckee's Alison McEnany was second among women and 16th overall in 1:53. Tom Baird of Truckee was 24th in 1:58.

Thirty-six people raced the 10K. Chris Barber of Reno won in a time of 38 minutes and Jenelle Gomez of San Francisco was the top woman and fourth overall in 43:06.

David Simon of Incline Village finished third overall in 42:32, while Jeronimo Hernandez of Truckee was sixth in 43:12, Hayley Hemphill of Tahoe City was the 10th woman in 54:59, Kelly Wallis of Tahoe Vista was the 11th woman in 55:36, and John Hotchkiss of Truckee was 20th in 55:50.

In the 5K, which featured 38 runners, Chris Badolato of Reno won in 18:36 as Truckee's Chris Gallagher finished right on his heels in 18:43 for a runner-up finish. Catherine Lowdon of Hillsborough was the top woman and fifth overall in 20:25.

Pixie Baber of Truckee was the third woman and 10th overall in 27:07, Adam Carrasco of Truckee was 11th in 27:43, and Sharon Key of Truckee was fourth among women and 14th overall in 28:57.
