1922-2012
Oliver Henrikson died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the age of 90.
He came to Lake Tahoe with his brother and parents at the age of 2. At that time his mother was the only nurse up here. She used to ski all around the lake to tend to the illnesses of the small (at that time) communities. Oliver and his brother Charles would fend for themselves. As there was no work up here, their father worked in Oakland, Calif., as a blacksmith. He made beautiful wrought-iron pieces for peopleand#8217;s homes. His work is all around the lake, in fireplaces, fences and doorways. They are beautiful and lasting, from old Tahoe. Oliver created glass pyramids in which to live.
There will never be a man who stood up for his beliefs, as did my father. Oliver was a man of wit, wonder and extreme intelligence. Sleep well my sweet father. A memorial will be held at Bacchiand#8217;s in Lake Forest on Wednesday, July 18 from noon and#8211; 1 p.m.
