Through this and our other fundraising programs, the Foundation was able to fund more than $145,000 in classroom grants, teacher training and educator awards this school year.We greatly appreciate the dedication these restaurants show to our community and local education. Additionally, we’d like to thank the community members who regularly support our fundraising programs. The 2012-13 Dining for Schools card will go on sale at the end of August. — Laura Brown, Executive Director, Excellence in EducationPhysical education department says thanksNorth Tahoe Middle School would like to extend its gratitude to the Northstar Property Owner’s Association for allowing us to hold our annual Honors Physical Education Day at their facilities. This event includes many activities that would not be possible at our school site, such as water polo, beach volleyball, and outdoor pickleball. The Northstar Property Owner’s Association has donated their facilities to us for many years in order to provide a memorable day of team events for our students. Your donation of your property and time is a great service to our students and our community. Thank you. — Sincerely, North Tahoe School, Physical Education Department Dad stoked about pump trackHats off to all the people and businesses who helped dream, plan and build the new pump track at the Riverview Sports Complex. As an avid biker and father of two, I have been truly stoked seeing my kids progress with their two-wheel skills while mingling with kids and adults of all ages cruising the tracks. Every time we go we see our friends or make new ones and are reluctant to leave. This is truly a special place where camaraderie, community and family can get their groove on! Thank you for all the hard work.— Chris Griffith, Truckee Blood drive honors Tom RaganThe Ragan family would like to thank all of the people who came out to the community blood drive last month. The Tahoe City Rotary was kind enough to let us team up with them for this drive in order to honor our father, Tom Ragan, who received close to 200 units of blood during his battle with cancer. We wanted to try to pay back what he received. It was through the help from people who donated that we were able to spend a little extra time with him. We collected 112 units of blood, well on our way to the 200 mark! We would also like to thank all of the local businesses that donated prizes for the raffle. Big thanks go out to BigTruck Hats, Hacienda del Lago, Tootsie’s, Poppy’s, Bob Hassett, Old Post Office, Big Mack, Alpine Power Equipment, Tara Morrissey of Bella Vita, Pete ’n Peter’s, Coffee Connexion, Massage on the Lake, North Lake Auto Parts, North Tahoe Fire, Tahoe Mountain Brewing Company, Tahoe City Martial Arts Academy, New andamp; Used Tahoe Sports, Rachel Ragan, Schoonmaker Construction, Verdi Mining Company, and Tahoe Water Adventures. Most of all, thank you to the Rotary, without whom the turn out wouldn’t have been as great as it was. In great appreciation,The Ragan Family
