What to expect before attending the American Century Championship

With the likes of Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, Charles Barkley and Tony Romo competing at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course from July 20-22 in the American Century Championship, having a good view and knowing your way around is important. Here are some tips for taking in the event:

PARKING: Parking on site at Edgewood is severely limited to players and members of the working media. There is no public parking at the golf course. Parking is permitted along Lake Parkway, which crosses in front of the gates to Edgewood. Located directly across from the gates is the back lot at Horizon Casino Resort, where spectators can park for $10.

BLEACHERS: Those looking for an elevated view of a tee box or green can find bleachers at a couple of locations around the course. Two large grandstands border the 18th green while also allowing a view of the leaderboard, which will be updated throughout the tourney.

There is a bleacher located at the 164-yard par three 7th tee, and green, as well as another at the first tee box and No. 9 green. There are also stands at the driving range and 10th tee box. The entire course is walkable, but spectators must remain behind the ropes at all times during tourney play.

SKYBOX: Skybox entry is by sponsor ticket only. Company skyboxes are located along the 17th hole, which offers some of the best views of Edgewood’s signature hole. American Century, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Korbel and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority are all sponsors of these skyboxes and guests must be permitted by sponsors to spectate from these areas.

RESTROOMS: There are five restroom areas located on the course. There is one at the par three 5th hole tee box, another between the 13th green and No. 3 tee box, one more at the first, one at 17 and the final one located near the first-aid station along the one fairway.

CONCESSIONS: There are four locations for spectators to find food and beverage. There is one located directly outside of the Edgewood’s clubhouse doors, which borders the first tee. There is another on the No. 3 tee box, one more behind the No. 5 green and the final along the 17th hole. Brooks Sports Bar area and deck in the clubhouse is open to the public for cocktail service. Also, the Edgewood golf shop is open to the public for souvenirs.

BEACH/BOAT ACCESS: Boats are permitted on the lake near the 17th and 18th hole, but they are monitored. Come early. First come, first served.
