Incline athletes Rachel Barth, Ross McMahan solid in Tahoe Rim Trail

Incline Village athletes Rachel Barth and Ross McMahan represented their home turf well in the 50-kilometer distance of the Tahoe Rim Trail 50K/50M/100M Endurance Runs this past weekend.

Barth, 36, claimed the women’s victory and was seventh overall in a time of 6 hours, 6 minutes, 24 seconds. She finished about 2 minutes ahead of Annie Rutledge (6:08:39) to capture the win.

McMahan, meanwhile, finished second overall in a time of 5:20:22 on the 50K course, which, like the other two races that make up the event, started and ended at Spooner Lake State Park.

Jon Olsen of Modesto took the win in a time of 4:54:03 and was followed by Bill Clements (5:42:47) and Tim Twietmeyer (5:46:01) rounding out the top five. Caroline Walden (6:33:27) was third among women, followed by Jenny Weisberg (6:42:39) and Erin Mangino (6:47:51).

In the 100-miler, 37-year-old Matt Hart of Salt Lake City took the lead about 40 miles into the race and went on to win in a time of 19:14:43. Aaron Heidt, 36, of Vernon, B.C., finished runner-up in 20:01:19, and Jon Robinson, 33, of Seattle was third in 20:07:20.

Claire Walton traveled from Wirral, England, to claim the victory among women while finishing fourth overall in 21:46:22. She was trailed by Candice Burt of Bellingham, Wash., who posted a time of 22:50:47, and Jenelle Potvin of Truckee, who finished in 25:12:49.

In the 50-mile race, Alexander Kaine made a late pass on Truckee’s Peter Fain to take the win in a time of 8:35:07 to Fain’s 8:44:28. Curt Casazza was third in 8:50:25. Sarah Johnston was the top woman in 10:35:40. Christy Mahon was the second woman in 10:42:46 and Katie Murphy was third in 10:43.
