One arrested in June shooting

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Police have arrested one suspect, and are looking for two more, in a June shooting in the area of Bonanza Avenue and D Street.

During the June 27 incident, South Lake Tahoe police determined there was an exchange of gun fire between a pedestrian and an occupant of a passing vehicle, according to a statement from the city.

No injuries have been reported from the June incident, which is believed to be gang related.

Following the incident, felony arrest warrants were obtained for Jahem Barton, 19, and Cesar Caro, 19, according to the statement. Jamal Darrion Coffer, 21, was also identified as being involved and police also obtained a search warrant for his residence, according to the statement.

In the early morning hours of July 27, police SWAT team members served on Caro's home in the area of Glenwood Way and Fairway Avenue. Caro was found inside and arrested. During the search officers found evidence of gang affiliation, but no guns. Caro was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on suspciion of attempted murder with bail set at $150,000, according to the statement.

Two days prior, police attempted to serve the search warrants at Barton and Coffers' apartments at 1946 B Street, but Barton and Coffer were not at home and appear to have left the area.

A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Barton, who is wanted on suspicion of participating in a criminal street gang and being a gang member carrying a concealed firearm. Coffer is wanted for questioning in this case.
