Regarding your article, and#8220;Lake Tahoe Hates Beach Buttsand#8221;: Letand#8217;s have smoke-free beaches.
A sign that asks smokers and#8220;to not use public spaces as an ashtrayand#8221; will not work. Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, yet our beaches are littered with butts and the butts are polluting the lake and probably poisoning our animals and fish. This is inexcusable, especially for a community that takes pride in protecting our environment.
The only solution to this hazardous, toxic, non-biodegradable, incendiary butt is for our IVGID Board of Trustees to pass a and#8220;Smoke-Free Beachand#8221; ordinance. This is a sensible thing to do for our community. There are 100 cities and municipalities in the U.S. and#8212; plus the entire state of Maine and#8212; that have smoke-free beaches (ref: no-smoke.org).
Why arenand#8217;t Incline Villageand#8217;s three beaches on the list? They should be.
